Mitsou and NIBBL.: A Delicious Video Collaboration
On December 5, 2022, I took part in a video project with Mitsou for NIBBL., centred on its cheese boxes. Filmed in Montréal’s Plateau neighbourhood, the project gave me a chance to work in a very different world: products, textures, gestures and the art of hosting.
As cinematographer, my work was to build images that showcased the food while retaining warmth and naturalness. The light needed to bring out the products’ materials, colours and details, but also create an atmosphere suggesting sharing and the pleasure of hosting.
I paid particular attention to close-ups, gestures and composition. Cheese being cut, a hand preparing a plate, a table taking shape: these small details brought movement and life to a subject primarily devoted to the product.
The work continued in postproduction with editing and creating short formats. But what I remember most is the pleasure of visually building a brand world from very simple things: beautiful products, carefully shaped light and a few gestures capable of conveying a whole atmosphere.
