Suzanne Aubry’s Le Portrait: Giving a Novel Video Form
In 2023, I created a video trailer for Le Portrait, Suzanne Aubry’s novel published by Libre Expression. The project began with a literary world and offered a visual entry point in a short format.
My work was to build the video proposal and develop it with feedback from the team. Conversations in July and August accompanied the different versions: we needed to find an atmosphere and rhythm that matched the book.
In the final film, the novel’s cover appears alongside interior images, textures and animated words. Editing and text movement create an atmosphere together, giving space to the title and the book’s visual identity.
This trailer is another way of working with storytelling: choosing what a few seconds can suggest, then organizing images and graphic elements around that intention.
