Delta Zéro: Finding a Trailer’s Rhythm with Martin Michaud

In fall 2025, I collaborated with Groupe Livre Québecor on a trailer for Martin Michaud’s Delta Zéro. The project called for condensing a fictional world into a short video for television, the web and social media.
My work took shape in the edit, exploring the available images, their sequence and the role of music. In a fifteen-second format, every choice counts: the opening, the rise in tension, the title’s appearance and the ending.
Conversations with Martin became an important part of that search. In October, we discussed the versions and tried several musical directions. I proposed the same edit with different music variations, seeking a crescendo from beginning to end. It let us feel how a soundtrack changed the trailer’s energy.
With Frédérique and Camille at Groupe Livre Québecor, the work continued on the novel’s presentation and the ending elements. Adjustments clarified the message, incorporated QUB Livre’s identity and prepared versions for the different channels.
After the October approvals, files were prepared in November for television and digital distribution. That final stage is also part of my contribution: following the edit through to the deliverables that will allow the project to reach its audience.
What I remember from Delta Zéro is a creative dialogue with an engaged author and an attentive team. Martin’s enthusiastic feedback, along with the enjoyment expressed in my own messages, brings me back to what I love about book trailers: finding, together, the form that makes people want to enter a story.
